Brunei Darussalam remains steadfast in fostering peace, promoting social harmony, and advancing sustainable development, under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. This was shared by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Member of the Legislative Council as the head of the Members of the Legislative Council delegation to the 152nd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Istanbul, Turkiye on the 15th to 19th of April.

 

Special emphasis was also placed on the concerning humanitarian situation in the Middle East, particularly in Palestine. Yang Berhormat urged for immediate cessation of violence, full protection for civilians, and ensure access to humanitarian aid is delivered without any obstruction. Yang Berhormat stressed that a just and lasting solution must be based on international law, respect for human rights, and safety of the people especially in Gaza. Towards this, Brunei Darussalam reaffirmed its continued support towards multilateralism and collective efforts of the international community in ensuring global peace, justice and stability for future generations. The Assembly gathered two thousand parliamentarians from all over the world to discuss global issues. Also joining were Yang Berhormat Dayang Chong Chin Yee, and Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Salleh Bostaman bin Haji Zainal Abidin, Members of the Legislative Council. The delegation attended several Standing Committee sessions, meetings and forums including the Second Meeting of the Group of Parliaments in Support of Palestine.
